Google finally brings its Nest Cam features

Google is rolling out a new update that’s bound to make life easier for Nest Cam users. Soon, you’ll be able to access all your Nest Cam features directly from your web browser on Google Home’s website.

This means you can now watch recorded videos, check event timelines, and even download clips without having to jump between different apps. No more hassle of switching between apps just to see what happened earlier on your Nest Cam.

But that’s not all! Google is also introducing the ability to create custom clips from your recorded footage, both on the web and in the app. This feature will require a Nest Aware subscription, starting at $8 a month.

Now, this update isn’t entirely new. Google had promised a web view for its cameras back in 2021, but it took until 2022 to materialize. Even then, it was limited to live view and only available for newer Nest cams. But now, the full functionality is finally here for everyone to enjoy.

If you’ve been frustrated with having to switch between different apps and portals for your Nest Cams, you’re not alone. Older Nest Cam users especially have had to deal with this inconvenience. But with this update, those days are over.

So whether you’re using the latest Nest Cam or an older model, you can now access all your camera’s features seamlessly through Google Home’s web interface. Plus, there’s even more good news on the horizon with features like picture-in-picture viewing and enhanced clip-making options.

With each improvement to the Google Home app and its web interface, we’re getting closer to saying goodbye to the Nest app altogether. The future looks bright for Nest Cam users, and it’s all thanks to Google’s commitment to making smart home technology simpler and more accessible for everyone.
